We’re Michele and Alex—two enthusiastic sailors in the making.

So far, we’ve obtained our ASA 101 certification and are eager to get more lessons under our belts.

While we haven’t personally sailed to every destination featured here (yet!), we’ve poured our hearts into researching and curating places that make us ache to hoist the sails and explore the world’s waters.

This site is our shared daydream—a collection of destinations and stories to inspire you, even if you’re still figuring out how to tie a bowline or figure-eight knot (we’ve been there).

In the busyness of everyday life and work, having something to look forward to is essential—a spark of joy that balances the grind.

Travel offers that spark, and when you add sailing to the equation, it’s not just a getaway—it’s a whole new life experience.

We understand the mix of thrills, hiccups, and pure joy that come with learning to sail, and we’re here to share our passion and dream sailing destinations with you.

If we can help you discover that special something to look forward to—a spark of adventure, a horizon to chase—then we’ve done our job.

Come explore with us!

Your Gateway to Beginner-Friendly Sailing

No matter where you are on your sailing journey, we’ll help you find the best destinations, tips, and gear to make your time on the water enjoyable and safe.

From weekend getaways to planning your first big sailing adventure, we’ve got you covered with:

  • Beginner-Friendly Destinations: Explore sailing spots perfect for novices, whether looking for calm waters or a little more adventure.
  • Essential Gear Guides (link coming soon): Get recommendations on the primary gear every new sailor needs, tried and researched by us along our journey. While we work on completing this segment, check out posts about sail harnesses & tethers, as well as gloves.
  • Boat Rentals: Depending on your experience level and preference, sail with an experienced captain or bareboat.

The Freedom and Responsibility That Sailing Offers

Outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to sailing because of its freedom—the ability to choose their destination, sailing course, and weather window of favorable conditions. If you’re like us, sailing provides an extraordinary escape from daily life.

Catching beautiful sunsets is always part of the draw, too. 💙

However, please be mindful that all that freedom comes with responsibility.

The content and information on this website are not intended to replace your need for proper care and diligence in operating your boat.

References to sailing routes, bays, passages, distances, challenges, etc., are intended to be informational and may change over time due to boating regulations and/or Mother Nature. We recommend confirming information about government boating regulations because they can change.

Only information about boating rules from the government and other reputable sources can be considered conclusive. This website will include links to help you access this information.

Sailing is such a fascinating and inspiring topic (in our humble opinion😊), and we encourage you to do further research if you are inclined.

We hope the information provided on Sight Set on Sailing piques your interest in diving deeper into the world of sailing, not only for your safety but also for the sheer sake of inspiration, planning some fun on the water, and making lasting memories.

Just as the rules apply for operating your car, truck, motorcycle, etc., you are responsible for your boat navigation at your own discretion and risk, especially if sailing bareboat (without an instructor or experienced captain).

Let Sailing Be Your Something to Look Forward To

Even if you’re not on the water yet, just planning your next sailing moment can lift your spirits.

Whether it’s a calm bay you’ve never visited, a sailing school you’re curious about, or the quiet thrill of wind on the water, this space is here to help you explore it all.

You don’t need a boat. You don’t need to be an expert. You just need that spark… and a little something to look forward to.

Fair winds and nautical blessings to you, Michele & Alex
