What About Insurance?
Boatsetter has a rental insurance policy that covers both the boat owner and the renter for damage, liability, or theft. Become familiar with the coverage’s limitations and exclusions.
Additional Insurance Considerations & Budgeting for Your Sailing Trip
Although Boatsetter’s rental insurance provides the solid basics of protection, you may want to consider additional insurance options such as:
Personal liability insurance for extra coverage for any personal injuries or property damage that may occur during your rental timeframe.
Especially if traveling overseas, medical insurance: If a comprehensive health insurance plan does not already cover you, you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance that includes medical coverage.
In addition to insurance and budgeting for your sailing trip, consider fuel costs and the number of guests on your journey—perhaps they can contribute to the price.
Don’t forget you’ll need a meal, snacks, and drinks; consider packing your own to save on costs.
Will you be doing any activities, such as snorkeling or wakeboarding? Be sure to consider these costs, too.
Lastly, don’t hesitate to negotiate tactfully, especially for longer rentals or during off-peak times, as you might get a discount or added perks. It never hurts to ask, and most boat owners are reasonable and want to work with their renters the best they can.
