What about Insurance?
Sailo carries a comprehensive insurance policy included with your booking through Lloyd’s of London that covers you, the boat owner, and the captain. Also, professionally operated vessels listed on Sailo carry separate insurance policies.
If traveling overseas, you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance that includes medical coverage.
Additional Insurance Considerations & Budgeting for Your Sailing Trip
Although Sailo’s rental insurance provides the solid basics of protection, you may want to consider additional insurance options such as:
Personal liability insurance for extra coverage for any personal injuries or property damage that may occur during your rental timeframe.
Especially if traveling overseas, medical insurance: If a comprehensive health insurance plan does not already cover you, you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance that includes medical coverage.
In addition to insurance and budgeting for your sailing trip, consider fuel costs and the number of guests on your journey—perhaps they can contribute.
Don’t forget you’ll need a meal, snacks, and drinks; consider packing your own to save $$.
Will you be doing any activities, such as snorkeling or wakeboarding? Be sure to consider these costs, too.
Also, don’t hesitate to negotiate tactfully with the boat owner, especially for longer rentals or during off-peak times, as you might get a discount or added perks.
Ask if there are any special offers or promotional pricing—it never hurts to ask, and most boat owners are reasonable and want to work with their renters as best they can.
Renters might also get discounts by being flexible with dates or agreeing to terms such as cleaning the boat after use or booking additional services such as a skipper or crew.
Some owners offer discounts for early bookings or if you book at the last minute when the boat is still available.
Ensure any negotiated terms or last-minute add-ons are reflected in the rental agreement before confirming the booking.👍
